Mr Jeremy Bowyer BM FRCOphth offers specialist eye surgery and expert ophthalmic care across Staffordshire and beyond.
About
Mr Bowyer is the NHS Consultant Lead for the Oculoplastics Service at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. His areas of interest include ophthalmic plastic surgery around the eye, management of watery eyes, and orbital and socket problems.
He completed advanced Oculoplastics subspecialty fellowships at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, Queensland, with Professor Tim Sullivan, and at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, with Professor Richard Collin and Geoffrey Rose. He is particularly experienced in the surgical management of periocular skin cancer.
Mr Bowyer graduated from Southampton Medical School in 1990 and began ophthalmology training at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, and in neurosurgery at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield. He then underwent further ophthalmic training at the Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, and St Paul's Eye Unit at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
He was appointed as a substantive NHS Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Royal Stoke University Hospital following two years as a locum consultant in Oculoplastics at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. He maintains a large general ophthalmic workload in both NHS and private practice, regularly performing modern phacoemulsification cataract surgery, and has worked at University Hospitals of North Midlands since July 2005.
Mr Bowyer is a holder of three Clinical Excellence Awards and has presented at British Oculoplastic Surgery Society (BOPSS) meetings, internationally at European Society of Oculoplastics and Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS) meetings, and regionally at Midlands Oculoplastic Surgery Society (MOPSS) meetings.
